How come Obama supporters chastise people for voting for McCain?

Hood asked:

They never seem to like the fact that I’d vote for McCain over Obama (even though Clinton was my initial choice). I get called a racist (mind you, I’m black myself) and a “traitor”.

There are many Clinton supporters who are threatening to do this, but where’s the rule saying we must vote for only the Democratic nominee? Are the Democrats that greedy for power that they need to cling to as many votes as possible?

Obama Is Coming, Clear The Way!

Saturday, November 28th, 2009
Obama
James Opiko asked:

“Obama biro, yawne yo!” (Obama is coming, clear the way)—Tens of thousands of cheering Luo “Tribesmen” and ululating women screamed as they welcomed Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) back to his father’s ancestral land—Nyangoma Kogelo village in Luo Land, Western Kenya, several weeks ago.

In a matter of hours Obama had soared to unprecedented political prominence in Kenya, eclipsing a bunch of corrupt and heartless nincompoops—The (Mt. Kenya Mafia), who are ruthlessly grinding beautiful Kenya to the ground.

The only difference between the Mt. Kenya Mafia and the current U.S. Republican administration, is that the former have brought Kenya down to it’s “Economic Knees,” while it’s virtually impossible for George Bush’s government to bring down the mighty economy of the United States, no matter how much they misappropriate it’s coffers by way of inflated Iraq reconstruction contracts or Katrina FEMA trailers. Otherwise both groups employ similar schemes – exploiting and manipulating ethnic (racial) intolerance and promoting rampant corruption—a bunch of “cold-blooded” louts.

The six year cesspool of a mess presided over by the Bush administration might not be in vain after all. It has made America hungry for a messenger with a message of hope.

In the NBC “Meet The Press” interview of Sunday 22nd October, I watched Senator Obama intimate that—based on the responses he has been receiving across the country, he is considering running for the presidency of The United States in 2008.

What impressed me most about him is how he tackled the question regarding his previous assertion in 2004—that he would complete his six year Senate term and not run for President in 2008: “I have thought about the possibility, but I have not thought about it with the seriousness and depth I think is required,” Obama said. “My main focus is on 2006, and making sure that we re-take the Congress. After November 7th, I will sit down and consider it.”

Unlike the shifty, programmed, and selfishly partisan politicians I am used to watching on Sunday morning political TV, Barack Obama countered Tim Russert’s questions with poise, spontaneity and most important, he seemed very genuine.

In a political system muddied and tainted by arrogance, corruption and incompetence, watching and listening to Obama is inordinately refreshing.

In Obama I see an intelligent and capable man, unlike the current President who constantly reminds me of an unprepared and confused “open book, open notes” exam taker, badly rehearsed and totally incapable of articulating his views without the stewardship of his father’s cronies, Karl Rove his “Political Architect” and a bone breaking conglomeration of “Hyena” special interest groups.

Obama’s apparent good human qualities added to the fact that he is a great American story, makes the Senator a very attractive prospect for the ultimate prize in politics—The Presidency of The United States.

Is Obama Presidential material?

Many cite his lack of political experience, claiming his resume is too thin for a run at the Presidency. I disagree and here is why:

1. Unlike other black leaders, Obama doesn’t grind “white noses” in Racism, and at the same time he is a symbol of hope to millions of dis-affected blacks and other minorities.

Judging by his Senatorial election win of a 70% majority, Obama has proven that he is a very powerful vote magnet across racial lines. He has established an “inclusive” track record that would be vital in a presidential election if he decides to run. His candidacy would draw out millions of dormant black voters thus making the Democratic candidacy more viable.

On the flipside, we all know that there are some whites such as the right wing gutter constituents of con-man Rush Limbaugh, who will forever embrace Racism and will never accept a black president. A President Obama would mark the beginning of the placement this irritant breed to the fringes of political obscurity.

2. He is NOT a bumbling idiot, appears humble and has not been tainted with partisan politics. Perhaps even more important is that he is a confident intellectual, which I think is a necessary pre-requisite for handling the complex issues of the highest political office in the world.

3. The last Republican President who had some smarts was the foul-mouthed bigot—Richard Milhouse Nixon, who engineered his own downfall with a lethal concoction of homophobia, anti-Semitism, anti-black and “Communist Paranoia.” As a matter of fact Nixon’s political career spanned three decades of scare mongering, witch-hunts and dirty tricks, the same tactics that have been successfully deployed by the current administration over the last six years.

All others after him have been bumbling buffoons with slight exceptions in George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan.

Reagan the Serial Liar who made Americans feel good about themselves, was not only ill informed but partially senile towards the end of his second term – not particularly smart, but a great “Political Actor,” whose major achievements included presiding over the disintegration of the Soviet Empire (which was inevitable anyway), misuse of the World Bank and funding of CIA death squads to safeguard the corporate thievery by US multinational companies in Latin American countries…. and the worst in my opinion; propping the racist Apartheid regime in South Africa.

The “Great Communicator” was just another Republican crook!

Bill Clinton and John Kennedy did not have that much experience. Abraham Lincoln ran after two years in the House, Woodrow Wilson after two years as governor, and Franklin D. Roosevelt & Jimmy Carter after four years as governor.

Perhaps Dr. Martin Luther King summed it up best in his “The Drum Major Instinct” sermon delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia, February 4, 1968 – He said: “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve…. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant,” qualities that are thoroughly lacking in the Republican base – the “self-chosen” people of “Faith.”

If the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton, a very polarizing Democrat, the Republican smear spigots will spill out of control and flood the whole country to an extent that the Katrina calamity will look like a storm in a teacup. On the other hand, an Obama nomination would fuel vicious racial and below the belt “Nyangau” attacks from the right wing, like the slime being spewed by Republican troglodytes against black Democrat Harold Ford Jr. in the Tennessee, or by incumbent Senator George “Macaca” Allen in Virginia.

I wonder if Senator Obama has the stomach for such personal and racist attacks—a GOP staple!

Colin Powell assessed these circumstances in 2000 and chickened out, and subsequently dimmed his star serving in this ham-fisted administration for four years before being pushed out in favor of “yes-woman” Condoleezza Rice. It is rumored that he feared political assassination.

Will Obama follow through or is his potential candidacy just hype?

It is time for America to put it’s Racist legacy behind it, to re-assess its future, and take a closer look at this rising star, for I think Barack Obama is ready—to cleanse the “maligned” soul of America.

Obama Vs. Mccain on the Economy

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Obama
Darryl Cherness asked:

In a previous post, I discussed Obama’s positions on key economic issues. In this post, I will compare and contrast the two candidates on those same economic issues. After reviewing these issues, I am confident that you will conclude that Barack Obama is a friend of working people while John McCain is a friend of big business and the wealthy elite.

On labor related issues, Obama supported the Employee Free Choice Act, federal legislation that grants workers the right to join unions free from employer harassment or intimidation. Obama voted in favor of the motion to close debate on the Employee Free Choice Act. McCain not only failed to sponsor this legislation, he voted against the motion to close debate, effectively killing the Employee Free Choice Act. (H.R. 800, Vote #227, 6/26/07)

On another labor issue, protecting striking workers, Obama has opposed replacing striking workers with permanent replacements. McCain voted against ending debate on a bill that would prohibit employers from hiring permanent replacements for striking workers (S55, Vote #189, 7/13/94).

Finally, in regard to labor issues, Obama has supported raising the minimum wage and indexing it to inflation.  Obama voted in favor of raising the federal minimum wage to $7.25 an hour while McCain voted against increasing the minimum wage (SA.44 to S.256, Vote #26, 3/7/05).

On the subject of tax relief for working families, Obama supports a tax credit of $500 per individual or $1,000 per working family. In addition, Obama supports requiring the wealthiest Americans to pay a higher tax rate to finance these tax credits and other federal programs. McCain supports  a summer gas tax holiday in which the federal gas tax and the diesel tax would be suspended. He also supports keeping the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, where the top tax rate was cut from 39.6% to 35.0%, giving the very wealthy a tax windfall.

In regard to the so called summer “tax holiday,” this proposal has been denounced by Obama as a “gimmick.” The problem with this proposal is that it has no long term effect. The tax relief is limited and temporary. What happens when summer ends? In addition, a cut in the gas tax, even if temporary, would mean that state governments would lose millions of dollars in federal funding for highway improvements necessary for safety and the reduction of traffic congestion.

Another issue of major importance to this year’s presidential campaign is trade. Obama wants to amend the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) so that it benefits American workers by including good labor and environmental standards. McCain is a strong supporter of NAFTA, which the AFL-CIO has stated has cost 1 million American jobs from 1993-2004 (Working Families Vote 2008). McCain has made it clear that he does not support amending NAFTA to create stronger labor and environmental standards.

In regard to the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), a free trade agreement that is opposed by the labor movement, Obama voted against it while McCain voted for CAFTA (S.1307, Vote 170, 6/30/05).

Finally, in regard to protecting homeownership and cracking down on mortgage fraud, Obama supports the creation of a fund to help homeowners refinance their mortgages. The fund would be paid, in part, from increased penalties levied against lenders who act irresponsibly or commit fraud. Obama has also introduced legislation (Stop Fraud Act) that defines mortgage fraud, increases funding for state and local law enforcement, and increases penalties for mortgage fraud.

As for his plan to deal with this problem, McCain said the following: …”there is no substitute for faster economic growth.  No government program is a substitute for the jobs provided by a growing economy.” (Forbes, March 20, 2008) In other words, McCain’s plan is to do nothing for those faced with the loss of their homes or for those who watch while the value of their homes decline. This should hardly come as a surprise to those who may recall that McCain was previously quoted as saying that he did not understand economics.

Barack Obama’s Spread the Wealth Plan

Friday, November 27th, 2009
Obama
Josh Greenberger asked:

by Josh Greenberger

(October 17, 2008) Barack Obama to Joe the Plumber on October 13: ” … I’m gonna cut taxes a little bit more for the folks who are most in need. And for the 5% of the folks who are doing very well — even though they’ve been working hard, and I appreciate that — I just want to make sure they’re paying a little bit more in order to pay for those other tax cuts. Now, I respect the disagreement. I just want you to be clear, it’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you — that they’ve got a chance at success too.”

If this statement doesn’t worry you, you haven’t looked at it too closely. It’s been proven over and over that taking from those who’ve earned and giving it those who haven’t, doesn’t help those who gave or those who received — it ruins everybody!

The mortgage crisis we’re currently experiencing was about exactly that — giving “opportunities” to the less privileged, by taking (undeserved loans) from the banks. We all know how that turned out. It did not spread the wealth. It spread disaster.

Social promotion does not help underachievers, it only reduces overall achievement.

What Obama is proposing is another form of Affirmative Action. But, instead of giving a job that you qualify for to a less qualified person, he wants to give money that you’ve earned to someone who has not. This is absolutely outrages.

Institutionalized handouts do not make people do better; it only makes them expect more. Obama’s plan would turn the entire U.S. into an “inner city.” Can you think of a more counterproductive plan?

Why does Obama’s plan for giving people a “chance at success” revolve around taking from others, to begin with? It does not produce more goods and services, it only (unethically) reshuffles what we have.

There are options that take from no one and give to everyone.

A reduction in fuel costs would put money in the pocket of every American by reducing the price of a long list of other goods and services — and we wouldn’t have to take money from anyone. All we have to do is lift all oil drilling restrictions.

But Obama’s answer to lifting oil drilling restrictions, as Senator McCain pointed out, is he’ll “look at it?”

Let me see if I understand this correctly. To take money from one person and give it to another, that Obama doesn’t have to “look at,” he “knows” it’ll work, despite the fact that other such programs have failed miserably. But lifting drilling restrictions, which has absolutely no drawbacks, no downside, it takes money out of no one’s pocket, it’ll produce jobs, it’ll stimulate the economy even before gas prices drop drastically — that he has to “look at?” Is he kidding? It’s almost as if Obama’s working for an enemy country and trying to bring us down.

And this nonsense about how well Obama carries himself in debates is idiocy. There’s no question Obama came off calmer and “cooler” than McCain in the presidential debates. (Maybe Obama wouldn’t be so calm and cool if he had gone through in life what McCain has gone through, but that’s a whole other discussion.) But the notion that Obama would do better as a president because he debates better or comes off better is foolish. Who’s he going to debate as president; bin Laden, Achmedinejad, OPEC, the Caribou reindeer in Alaska?

And do we really want a president whose going to look calm and cool while we’re being nuked by Achmedinejad, or would we rather have a president who knows how to deal with brutal regimes?

Obama being plagued with allegations of links to shady people and activities — from associating with a terrorist to ACORN’s election scandals to threatening legal action against people who criticize him — should give you pause for thought. McCain, on the other hand, who’s been reviled by a media that is no friend of republicans and attacked by Obama, has not had one credible accusation of unethical behavior lodged against him that even needed defending. Doesn’t this alone tell you something about the character of the two candidates?

It’s difficult to understand why even blacks would want to vote for Obama. Sure it would be nice to have a black president, but doesn’t the character of the person mean anything? If we had a respectable black candidate running against a shady white candidate, the majority of whites, I believe, would not vote for the white candidate simply because he’s white. What good is a president of your ethnic background if he serves no one’s interest?

Essentially, what we’re faced with is a saint who doesn’t come off very well and a devil who wants to sweet talk you out of your soul. Which one do you think is in your interest to vote for?

I heard that Obama was planning on giving all immigrants who are already here, the chance to be citizens. Is this true? If not, what is he planning on doing about the immigration laws and regulations?

Seven Reasons I’m Voting for Barack Obama for President

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009
Obama
Marvin J Markus asked:

g for Barack Obama this November 4th for President of the United States. What follows in this article are 7 of the many reasons I am voting for Obama and not John McCain.

1. Obama was against the Iraq war from the start. Very few politicians had the integrity and the judgment to know that the Iraq war was a mistake before it began. John McCain certainly did not. McCain was one of the many politicians who thought Iraq would be a short easy war and that American soldiers would be “greeted like liberators” in Iraq.

2. Obama will lower taxes for people making less than $111,645 per year (that includes me, unfortunately!) more than John McCain will. McCain has been running many misleading advertisements which make the claim that Obama is raising taxes across the board. That is not true. Obama is only raising taxes for the very rich and for corporations (who have not paid their fair share of taxes.)

For 90% of Americans, Obama’s plan will bring lower taxes than McCain’s will. This is an important fact not only because of the lower taxes that most Americans will pay but also because it speaks to McCain’s lack of integrity. McCain continues to run disingenuous ads which claim a vote for Obama is a vote for higher taxes.

3. Obama is pro choice and will nominate pro choice judges for the Supreme Court. McCain has said he will be a “pro life President.” Nobody is pro-abortion. It’s not the role of the government to tell a woman what she can do with her own body.

If you believe in a woman’s right to choose it is essential that you support Barack Obama as it’s very likely the next President will be nominating 2 to 3 Supreme Court Justices. If McCain is the one nominating those judges, it’s very possible that Roe V. Wade could be reversed.

4. Foreign policy. Obama showed he had far superior foreign policy judgment with his stance on Iraq. The things he said about the Iraq war before it had even begun all turned out to be true. We need a President who has judgment and the ability to know when and where to strike. The shoot first ask questions later cowboy mentality of the Bush/Cheney administration would be made even worse by McCain who, as Pat Buchanan put it, would make “Cheney look like Gandhi.”

5. International respect. George W. Bush has been a humongous embarrassment for Americans. People all over the world now think of Americans as morons. Barack Obama is already loved all over the world. He is a brilliant speaker who understands the nuance of how to converse with people from different cultures. He’s preferred in Europe over McCain by enormous margins. Obama as President would instantly make America popular again.

6. Health care. While I do not believe that Obama’s health care plan is the universal plan that our country really needs, it is a good step towards a better plan and it will help to lower overall health care costs. McCain’s approach would hurt more than help. There would be even more people without health care with McCain as President.

7. Energy. While McCain is harping on the ridiculous non-issue of off shore drilling because he knows it plays well to the many uneducated voters in this country, it is Obama who has a real plan for energy independence. McCain’s off shore drilling plan would only help to make extremely rich oil companies even more rich. It would not lower gas prices.

Obama 1St Year In Office

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009
Obama
tatar job asked:

written by www.ayubs.weebly.com

I have noticed of late that “some” Barack Obama supporters are incapable of admitting when their candidate makes a mistake and spend their time looking to see who is talking about Obama and rushing to the rescue if anyone dares point out the truth of his words, actions or positions, if it doesn’t fit with the Obama is the “Messiah” narrative.

It looks like I am not the only one noticing this attack mode mentality of Barack Obama supporters, which I liken to the Ron Paul  SUPPORTERS  which are almost like a distant memory at this point.

It starts with the article, from the LA TIMES  which I saw over at memeorandum  which says Barack Obama has a big problem with West Virginia voters, and then I click a couple of the blogs under the “discussion” category and lo and behold, I ran across this from Mydd, referencing the LA Times article, but with some harsh words at the beginning of the MyDD piece issued directly to Obama supporters.

I’d humbly suggest, to all the Obama supporters that join us here on this blog, that if you can’t stand the heat of the West Virginia primary, you stay out of the kitchen. While I’m at it, I also suggest that you refrain from accusations against West Virginians as being racist, or you’ll join the other 6 previous users here, whose offensive comments were deleted on Friday, and that were themselves banned from the site. This is a political junkie website, we thrive on primary and election coverage. When Obama blew out Clinton in Wyoming, it was blogged excessively here, both in the run-up and the day of the event coverage, and it’ll be the same way with West Virginia. You don’t like that? Fine, its a big wide blogosphere, go find a blog that has its head in the sand. Are the ground rules understood?

Although the writer makes it clear that Obama supporters had become offensive to the point where their comments have been deleted and users have been banned, they didn’t provide any examples, so I will do so from my own comment section and I will use the most recent example which is from a post done this morning about Barack Obama saying that he had visited 57 states and has one to go, which excluded Hawaii and Alaska….which seems to imply Obama thinks there are 60 states in America.

Clearly a mistake, whether from exhaustion, weariness or simply stupidity, but instead of being capable of acknowledging that Obama made a mistake, one of his supporters leaves this as a comment:

I am tired of all the slander that comes from Hillary. She forgets that her husband singed the NAFTA agreement that sent our jobs out of the USA in the first place. Now she is going to get those jobs back,HA. And as for her gas tax ploy, until the government places a cap on the price fromt the oil companies, what is going to stop them from raising the price of gas to cover the money they would pay from excessive profits. Nowing how the oil companiws work, they would raise the price of gas to cover the loss and add another 10 to 20% as a way to show the American people who runs this country. Wake up Hillary, and see what is really going on.

bob |

Now, if you go read the actual post it deals directly with Barack Obama misspeaking, nothing more, nothing less, and yet, as the old Paul supporters used to do, this “bob” couldn’t even address the topic at all, couldn’t admit his candidate made a mistake and could only manage to attack Hillary Clinton, which I might add, there are plenty of other threads about Hillary in which he could have made points about Hillary.

But I digress.

Of course I asked”bob” what his comment had to do with Barack obama saying he had visited 57 states, and received no answer, because no doubt, “bob” was doing searches to see who else is talking about Obama so he can go leave completely unrelated comments in those articles as well.

It was back in February when I SAID about pundits calling Barack a “cult” personality, and it seems that those supporters, not all of them, but enough to make blog owners and media notice, are starting to act like they have lost their minds… back then even other previous Edwards supporters who are now Obama supporters were stating that they were getting “weirded out by some of the more radical Obama supporters.

The moderate Obama supporters can and do discuss issues, so please do not assume anyone is painting them all with the same brush, but there are radicals out there and they seem drawn to Obama in a cult-like way that is appearing less and less healthy and more and more radical with each and every passing day.

Just as many of the more unbalanced Paul supporters harmed him in the election process, I have no doubt that those making themselves appear overly radical will harm Obama in the general election in November against John McCain.

To be taken with any seriousness, you have to be able to acknowledge your candidates mistakes and misstatements and even challenge your own candidate on issues you don’t agree with.

To deny those mistakes, to try to distract from them by attempting to change the subject rather than facing them head on, is showing that you cannot deal with reality and you cannot show any objectivity in which others can take you seriously in what you say about your candidate.

It may not make much of a difference in the Democratic race for the nomination, but it most assuredly will make a very large difference in the general election process.

(Side note) The original  article showing Obama has a problem is West Virginia offended Don Surber who, rightly so, thinks that instead of gracefully admitting they might just be defeated in West Virginia, they seem to feel the need to smear the state and their voters.

Why is Obama labeled the first african american President?

Saturday, November 21st, 2009
Obama
web_trace asked:

How about we leave race, heritage and culture out of the Presidency?

Otherwise, lets label all the Presidents by their heritage and make them out to be the first, second, or third in their respective categories.

It’s sad when you can’t just call yourself an American President. You divide people by saying Obama is the first african american President. You want to unite the country, forget about labels and move on.
